The feature skylight of the building was letting in too much heat and light but the cost of replacing the glass or adding a coating was prohibitive, so we worked with the client to build a screening system.

Designed to be unobtrusive, sunscreens were mounted onto a barrel vaulted structure skimming over the skylight. An access ladder arches over the whole width, and slides over the entire length of the installation, making for easy maintenance.

The solution was so effective that it cut down the air-conditioning bill of the building by around 20-30%, and significantly reduced glare in the interior. Visually, it did not take away from the soaring openness that the atrium was known for.
